Members of the Conner Homes team recently traded in their laptops and work boots for shovels and gloves—joining Forterra for a meaningful day of community restoration at Crystal Springs Park in Seattle.

In just a few hours, eleven Conner Homes volunteers planted 70 native plants and carefully mulched each one, helping to restore the park’s natural ecosystem and strengthen the green spaces that make our region so special.

Learning by Doing

The Forterra team began the day with hands-on lessons in sustainable planting—teaching volunteers how to perform the perfect “tug test” to ensure each plant is properly rooted. (One volunteer shared a memorable reason for learning the technique—a bunny once pulled a lilac straight out of the ground at home!)

Throughout, participants learned about the importance of planting native species and how to mulch in protective rings rather than piles—small details that help ensure long-term growth and health.

Kindness at the Core

What stood out most wasn’t just the work—it was the spirit behind it. After planting was done, Conner Homes team members helped put away tools, stayed to chat with Forterra leaders, and shared stories and laughter that reflected what our company values most: kindness, care, and connection.

For over 65 years, Conner Homes has built more than just houses—we’ve built communities. Supporting local organizations like Forterra is one of the many ways we give back to the Pacific Northwest region that has supported us for decades.

Our Commitment to the Pacific Northwest

From long-standing partnerships with organizations such as HomeAid Puget Sound and MBAKS Rampathon, to ongoing volunteer efforts and donation drives, Conner Homes remains deeply committed to strengthening the neighborhoods we serve—both through the homes we build and the hands we lend.

Every tree planted, every coat donated, every ramp built is part of a shared vision: creating a more connected, resilient, and caring Pacific Northwest.

Thank you, Forterra, for the opportunity to help restore Crystal Springs Park—and for inspiring us to keep growing together.
